Our client, one of the UK's leading providers of specialised energy reduction, engineering and project delivery services for a broad range of industries is seeking a Mechanical Process Project Engineer to join their team of professionals.
The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing energy management systems, setting up and maintaining high standards of safety, statutory compliance condition monitoring, continuous improvement and people development to enable maximum plant reliability for their clients organisations.
Clients range from UK based manufacturing facilities to large scale global industrial sites. The role is based in Hampshire and involves travel both in the UK and abroad.
Job Role
Reporting directly to one of the Project Managers based at the offices and at client sites, you will be responsible for the engineering of industrial utilities projects from concept design through to a build solution.
You will be responsible for carrying out a range of engineering tasks including:
• Assessment of existing installation operational conditions
• Writing technical reports
• Maintaining a project programme in MS Project
• Developing detailed process and instrumentation diagrams from a concept design
• Creating equipment schedules and sizing equipment
• Tendering equipment to selected suppliers and managing technical clarifications
• Managing contractors at site including H&S management
• Commissioning the designed solution
The following experience and qualifications are required:
• Appropriate engineering qualification - HNC/Degree or equivalent
• People management skills
• Good knowledge of MS Office especially MS Project and MS Excel
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and CDM regulations
• Ability to travel and work away from home for short periods including overseas
• Currently resident in the UK with the right to work in the UK
Design and engineering of process and utility plant in at least one of the following:
• Boilers and Steam Plant
• Refrigeration & Cooling Systems
• Compressed Air Systems
• Water Treatment
Skills and Experience
You must be experienced in a project engineering environment with experience of dealing with clients at a technical level.
You must be self motivated and able to work independently and on your own initiative. Experience of design and installation projects in an operating environment is essential. You will be expected to have proven engineering and communication skills.
You must be able to demonstrate design and engineering knowledge and experience in the following areas:
• Equipment selection and sizing
• Design and selection of utility plant
• Selection and specification of instrumentation
• Basic electrical and controls knowledge
• Design and selection of heat exchangers, vessels and receivers
• Knowledge of steam, refrigerant and gas tables
• Heat and mass balance calculations
• Specification and ordering of process and mechanical equipment
• Production of equipment schedules and specification documents
• Tender writing and evaluation process
